Elderly woman crashes her vehicle into local business

Damage is assessed on the front of the United Credit Union building in Vandalia after an elderly woman’s vehicle crashed into an office last week.

An elderly driver had an unfortunate accident on Wednesday, May 31 when she drove her vehicle into an office window and wall on the front side of the United Credit Union in Vandalia.
The accident occurred around 1:46 p.m.
Vandalia Police Chief Christopher Hammann said he was driving by the location when a UCU employee flagged him down.
The 87-year-old woman reportedly drove her 2010 Chevy Aveo over a concrete parking barrier before making contact with the wall and office window of UCU Manager Jean Trower. Trower was reportedly not in the office at the time of the accident. There were no reported injuries.
As of press time, the accident area has been boarded up until repairs can be made.
