Effie O’Dell (Kemp) Rolle, age 90, of Vandalia, passed away at 9:25 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2012 at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Mo. Visitation is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia, Mo. Services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia, Mo. with Pastor Jamie Franke officiating. Music to be provided by soloist Wayne Lynn.
Interment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Effie was born on March 21, 1922 in rural Monroe County, Missouri, the daughter of Tony H. and Norma I. (Woodson) Kemp. She was married to John Junior Rolle on June 28, 1941 in Mexico, Mo.; he preceded her in death on December 26, 1989.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Jr.
Effie lived most of her life in the Vandalia area and worked for over 15 years as a seamstress at the Bobbie Brooks Garment Factory in Vandalia. She was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Vandalia where she was a Sunday School teacher and helped with Bible School. Effie also enjoyed quilting, crochet, crafts, and handiwork.
Survivors include two sons, Sean and wife Anne West of Las Vegas, Nev. and Barry and wife Robin Rolle of Overland Park, Kan.; one daughter, Jeanne and husband Robert McKee of Bowling Green, Mo.; one brother, Robert D. and wife Jane Kemp of St. Joseph, Mo.; and one sister Wilma Anderson of Stockton, Calif.; she’s also survived by six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and six great-great grand children. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
