Edward Meives, age 79, of Silex passed away Friday May 1, 2015 at his home.
Funeral Mass is being held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 6 at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood with Fr. Charles Tichacek officiating. Burial was in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Millwood.
He was born May 24, 1935 in St. Louis, the son of Aloysius Francis and Julia Margaret Masek Meives. On May 20, 1995, Edward married Mary Ann Hayes and she survives. Also surviving is one sister, Margaret Conoyer of St. Charles, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Al Jr. William Meives, and sister Helen Waidmann.
Edward lived in St. Louis until 1987 when he moved to Silex. He served in the United States Army and was employed in the grocery industry until his retirement.
He volunteered for Silex Fire Department for many years and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Edward was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
Serving as pallbearers were John Hayes, Dan Conoyer, Bill Waidmann, Chuck Beckwith, Greg Geeding, and Nathan Geeding.
Memorials may be made to the Clarence Cannon Elementary Technology Fund.
