Edith Webber, 92, of Laddonia, died at 6:15 a.m., Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, at Pickering Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Ostrom officiating.
Visitation will be Monday from 5–7 p.m.
Burial will be in Laddonia Cemetery.
Edith was born on December 6, 1921, in Farber, Mo., the daughter of John and Nellie (Seal) Trabue. On April 3, 1941, in Hannibal, she married Earl Webber.
They lived on the Webber farm north of Laddonia from 1945. After his death on August 9, 1975, she continued to live there and participate in the farming operation with her son, grandsons and great grandsons.
She attended Oak Grove and Elm Bend rural schools and graduated from Laddonia High School.
She was a member of the Cheerful Homemakers Club, Perry Study Club, AMC Auxiliary, and Entre Nous Club. She was always available to help those in need and volunteered at Twain Haven Nursing Home until it closed, quilted with the Audrain Medical Center Auxiliary group and helped many individuals in their time of crisis.
Survivors include one son, Richard Webber and wife Gaytha of Laddonia; two daughters, Earlene McCord of Mexico and Judy Ellis and husband Bob of Laddonia; seven grandchildren; Calvin Webber, Chris Webber, Bryan McCord, Becky McCord Garrett, Paula Ellis Hoer, Peggy Ellis Withrow and Brent Ellis; 11 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by parents; aunt and uncle, Bessie Seal Gates and Val Gates; and grandmother, Mary Jane Seal, with whom she made her home from the age of 10.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children’s Therapy School or to the donor’s choice.
