Services for Dorothy Louise Arndt, 87, of Vandalia, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Laddonia, with Reverend Steve Goughnour officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Vandalia.
Visitation was held Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Arndt passed away at 12:10 a.m., November 5, 2012 at Tri County Care Center in Vandalia.
She was born August 21, 1925 in Ralls County, the daughter of William David and Rachael Elizabeth Manker Webb.
She was married to Clyde Raymond Arndt on May 28, 1941 in Hannibal and he preceded her in death January 21, 2008.
Survivors include: one son and his wife, Raymond William and Sondra Arndt of Vandalia; one daughter and her husband, Mary Louise and Freddie Richards of New Bloomfield; six grandchildren, Penny (Ron) Worthley of Hallsville, Lisa (Bobby) Johnson of Vandalia, Mike (Tracy) Arndt of Hunnewell, Kevin Arndt of Laddonia, Casey (Blake) Dorsey and Andy Richards, all of New Bloomfield; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Darrell Roy Arndt; five brothers; and three sisters. Mrs. Arndt was a lifetime area resident and member of both the Monroe City Christian Church and the Vandalia First Christian Church. Over the years, a few of her many jobs included working at the Shoe Factory in Hannibal, the garment factories in Vandalia and Laddonia, and as a head cook at the Farber Elementary School. After retirement Raymond and Louise moved to their farm south of Hunnewell where they spent 20 years.
They also enjoyed spending time at a camp on the Mississippi River between Hannibal and Palmyra. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and watching Cardinal baseball. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe City Nutrition Center. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mike Arndt, Kevin Arndt, Andy Richards, Ron Worthley, Bobby Johnson, and Blake Dorsey.
