Donald Dean VonVain

Donald Dean VonVain, age 79, of Middletown, passed away at 2:48 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 8th at the Myers Funeral Home in Middletown. The Rev. John Brumagin will officiate. Serving as organist will be Eldora Lowry.
Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Center, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers will be Derrick Cope, Jonathan McCurdy, Josh McCurdy, Paul Oliver, Dusty VonVain, and Jared VonVain.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jessica Colak, Coty Cope, Megan Dowell, Tasha Genovese, Corey Hagan, and John VonVain.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 7 at the funeral home.
Mr. VonVain was born March 8, 1936, in Middletown, Missouri, a son of John Clarence and Alta Marie (Surls) VonVain.
On February 12, 1967, in Center, Missouri, he married Delcie Marie Jennings.  She preceded him in death on August 25, 1998.
Donald had lived most of his life in Middletown. He lived in the state of Colorado for a short time.
He had previously worked at the Stave Mill in New Florence as well as for the Montgomery County Road District.
Donald enjoyed going to auctions as well as yard sales. He loved to auctioneer.  Donald also liked digging roots and driving the back roads.  He loved to buy, sell or trade anything and everything.  Donald found great joy in professing his love for the Lord to people that crossed his path.
Donald is survived by his three daughters, Nancy Eileen McCurdy, of Vandalia; Gloria Sue Dowell and husband Jim, of Wellsville, and Sharon Marie VonVain, of Millersburg; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Josh McCurdy, of Canton; Jessica and Cumali Colak, serving in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Turkey; Jonathan McCurdy, of Vandalia; Dusty VonVain and Tasha Genovese, of Wellsville; Megan Dowell, of Wellsville; Coty and Derrick Cope, of Bellflower, and Corey Hagan, of New Florence; five great-grandchildren, Kelebek Colak and Resul Colak, of Turkey; Dever Cope and Dallas Cope, of Bellflower; and Daniel Crigler, of Millersburg; brother and sister-in-law, James Albert and Della VonVain, of Middletown; sister, Grace Virginia VonVain, of Middletown; in addition to nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Clarence and Alta Marie VonVain; wife, Delcie Marie VonVain; son-in-law, Lee McCurdy; brothers, Arley Norman VonVain, Jewell Clarence VonVain, Earl Lee VonVain and  Forney Melvin VonVain; and sister, Opal Marie VonVain.
