Donald C. “Bud” Erbe

Donald C. “Bud” Erbe, age 77, of Silex passed away Saturday July 27, 2013 at his home.  Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex with the family and Bro. Kevin Diederich officiating.  Burial was in the Hawk Point Cemetery.  Visitation was held Monday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 4, 1935 in Davis, the son of Julius Charles and Luella (Schuette) Erbe.  On Dec. 27, 1958, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Old Monroe, Mr. Erbe married Alice Diederich and she survives.  Also surviving are one son Nicholas Erbe and wife Anngela (Bine) of Troy; two daughters Annette Bextermiller and husband Jerry of High Hill, Bonnie Cannon and husband Bobby of Silex; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters Bea Gamm of Bowling Green and Ruth Tannehill of Troy.  Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister Marian Franke, and special niece Nancy (Tannehill) Mills.
Mr. Erbe lived in Lincoln County all of his life and had lived at his current residence for 52 years.  Bud worked for Missouri Department of Transportation in Lincoln County for 33 years.  He served in the United States Army Reserves and was a 50 year member of Masonic Nineveh Lodge No. 473 in Olney.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, old tractors, and tinkering.  Bud will be remembered for his joking and practical pranks.
Serving as pallbearers were Brian Bextermiller, Andrew Erbe, Chase Cannon, Christopher Cannon, Jimmy Franke, Roger Tannehill, Dennis Roberts, Ray Mills, and Tom Bruns.  Honorary pallbearers were Bill Haines, David A. Thompson, Lawrence Clark, Eddie Huber, and Ed Clary.
Memorials may be made to Hawk Point City Cemetery.
