Many rumors have traveled throughout Vandalia in regards to the future plans of its Dollar General store on Highway 54.
Rumors included the store constructing a new building in the area of the old Vandalia Cinema.
As of press time, Dollar General’s media relations has went on the record as to where the company stands when it comes to its Vandalia location.
“At this time, we are currently in a due diligence phase to potentially relocate our 910 W. Highway 54 store in Vandalia, Missouri,” said Angela Petkovic, a Media Hotline representative, in an email inquiry from ‘The Vandalia Leader.’ “This means we are reviewing the opportunity to relocate, but we have not committed to doing so just yet. Based on our current timeline, we anticipate to have a final decision on this location by late Fall 2018…”
“When choosing store locations, meeting customers’ needs is Dollar General’s top priority,” Petkovic went on to say in her response. “The company looks for places where we can offer customers an easy and convenient shopping choice. We know convenience is a major factor in our customers’ shopping decisions as we generally serve customers within a three to five mile radius, or 10 minute drive. We also take demographic trends, competitive factors, traffic patterns, and community concerns into consideration.”
