Regarding the death investigation of Antonio Jefferson, the Mid-Missouri Major Case Squad was disbanded late last week after following up on over 40 leads in the case.
At this point, we know Mr. Jefferson visited a local business at about 11:30 a.m., on December 12, and at about 12:02 p.m., he was found along Audrain Road 913 with injuries that resulted in his death.
At the scene with Jefferson, was also found his brother’s 2001, black Pontiac Gran Prix passenger car, which Mr. Jefferson was driving in, alone, when he was observed at 11:30 a.m.
The time between 11:30 a.m., and 12:02 p.m., are in question.
No information has been discovered to give us a clear picture of what events lead up to Jefferson’s death, and leads are being followed as they are discovered.

On Tuesday December 12, at approximately 12:03 p.m., Audrain County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Audrain Road No. 913, South of Mexico, on the report of a vehicle fire and a man down in the roadway.
Sheriff’s deputies and emergency services arrived on scene for fire suppression and to render medical care. One person was transported to the hospital where they were pronounced deceased. Foul play is suspected in the cause of death and a criminal investigation is underway.
No victim identification will be provided at this time pending next of kin notifications being completed.

The Audrain County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation with the assistance of the Mexico Department of Public Safety and Missouri State Highway Patrol.
