Darla June Wilson, age 53, of Holts Summit and formerly of Bowling Green, passed away Nov. 10, 2014 in Eldridge.
Memorial services were held at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green, with Rev. Steve Brown officiating.
Darla was born Aug. 27, 1961, the daughter of Barnie and Diane Sprinkle Sexton. On April 3, 1982, in Gladstone, she married Paul Wilson. He survives. Other survivors include her father, Barnie Sexton of Houston, Texas; son Jeremy Wilson of Fulton; daughter Jessica Wilson of Arnold; niece Ashley Eckhoff of Vandalia; and her dog Diesel and cats Izzy and GiGi. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; mother Diane Sexton; and brother Tim Sexton.
Darla was born and raised in Kansas City, graduated Oak Park High School in 1979, and was a member of the Antioch Bible Baptist Church in Gladstone. She worked with Concerned Care in Kansas City, caring for those with mental disabilities in group homes. In 1991 she worked for Fulton State Hospital and then the Department of Corrections in 1994 as a CO1.
She was promoted to a case worker in 2010 and served in that capacity until her health failed. Darla loved scrapbooking, arts and crafts, playing computer games, shopping with friends, and spending time with her children and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Pike County Relay for Life.
