Daniel Ortega, age 43, of Bowling Green, passed away April 17, 2014 in Vandalia. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home, with Pastor Dawn Marie Turner officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Danny was born Oct. 14, 1970 in Riverside, Calif., the son of Louie and Phyllis Pompa Ortega. He married Kellye Armendarez on Aug. 9, 1997. She survives. Other survivors include his parents of San Bernardino County, Calif.; wife and two daughters Madison Ortega (19) and Jessica Ortega (16), of Bowling Green; one brother, Jim Ortega, of Bowling Green; one sister, Eva Neel, and husband, Ben, of San Bernardino County, Calif.; nephew Steven Ortega, of Bowling Green and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents.Danny grew up in Montclair, Calif. He moved to Kansas City in 1993 and moved to Bowling Green in 2001. He was a member of the Christian Church and worked on the Fair Board for many years. He worked for Robert Dempsey Construction, True Manufacturing, and Sparks Maintenance. He enjoyed playing baseball and writing poetry and was very passionate about fishing. Danny lit up the room with his laugh and always found a way to put humor into a conversation. Danny was dedicated to his daughters and loved being around his family and friends. Danny was generous and would do anything for anyone.
Memorials may be made to the Madison and Jessica Ortega scholarship fund in care of the family.
