Dairy Queen to celebrate Children’s Miracle Network July 30

Posted on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 12:26 pm

Every minute, 62 children enter a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital for treatment.  To help those children receive the care and treatments they need, the DQ Grill & Chill restaurant in Vandalia will celebrate Miracle Treat Day on Thursday, July 30 to benefit University of Missouri Women’s and Children’s Hospital, one of 170 hospitals supported by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® (CMN Hospitals).
Now in its 10th year, Miracle Treat Day brings awareness and raises funds for CMN Hospitals in local communities.  One in 10 children in North America is treated at CMN Hospitals each year.
For every Blizzard® Treat sold on Miracle Treat Day at the local DQ Grill & Chill, proceeds (blizzard cost minus cost of goods) will be donated to University of Missouri Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
“We are passionate about raising funds to help save and improve the lives of kids treated at CMN Hospitals.  We have a lot of local children that have been treated at CMN Hospital’s, including our owner’s grandson.  What is great about this community effort is that the funds stay local to support the hospital in Columbia,” said Callie Terry.  “This year’s Miracle Treat Day will be particularly memorable because it comes during the Dairy Queen system’s 75th anniversary.”
Over the last 31 years, the Dairy Queen system has raised more than $100 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in local communities through fundraising efforts including Miracle Treat Day, the Miracle Balloon Campaign and other local initiatives.
This year TJ the Tiger, the mascot for University of Missouri Women’s and Children’s Hospital, will be making an appearance from 2-3 p.m. and 6-7 p.m.  There will be an ambulance, fire truck, and police car available to be toured from 2-3 p.m.  This is a great time to bring your children to DQ for a Blizzard® Treat.  Balloons are still available for sale and that day CMN bracelets will be sold for $1.00 as well with all proceeds going to their Miracle Treat Day fund.  If you would like to enjoy your blizzard on another day there will be coupons available to purchase so that the proceeds still go towards Miracle Treat Day.  Local businesses will have the option of having their Blizzard® Treats delivered to them.
