Indiana couple driving north on Hwy. 19 in Audrain County struck by Wisconsin driver at Bassinger Corner near Laddonia

A two-car crash at Bassinger Corner, the intersection of Hwy. 54 and Hwy. 19, has left an 80-year old man in serious condition, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1. Jerome Woelfel, 80, of Cloverdale, Ind., was driving northbound on Hwy. 19 in a 2018 Chevy Equinox, when he was hit on the right side by Karen Tyler, 56, of Chilton, Wis. who was driving a 2020 Toyota C-HR.

Welfel’s vehicle rolled over and came to a rest on the northbound shoulder of Hwy. 19, the patrol report says. He was transported by ambulance to Audrain Community Hospital with serious injuries. A passenger, Sharon Woelfel, 78, suffered minor injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.

The Toyota was towed by Scott’s Auto Repair of Vandalia with extensive damage. The Equinox was towed by Kuda’s Auto Repair of Farber also with extensive damage.
