The Audrain County Courthouse will be closed on the morning of Wednesday, January 18 for a County Employee Training session.
The Courthouse will re-open at 1 p.m. for normal business. The training will be used to enhance safety at the courthouse for employees of the various offices and the general public.
“This training will be used to identify gaps and concerns in the current safety plans of the Audrain County Courthouse,” Audrain County Emergency Management Director Steve Shaw said. “Our goal with this training will be to allow the employees of the courthouse to assist in the safety of the general public and enhance an already solid plan.”
“In order to make the general public’s safety at the Audrain County Courthouse better, we are asking that they understand this closure is not meant to impair their access to their county government,” Presiding Commissioner Steve Hobbs said. “Hopefully the inconvenience experienced by staff and the general public for this five-hour period will pay off in making our courthouse safer for the public to use.”
During the closure from 8 a.m. -1 p.m., all of the courthouse entrance doors will be locked and the general public will not be allowed in the building.
