Natalie Thomas on the podium after taking third place at state in the javelin.

In spite of just one month competing in the javelin event, Community R-VI’s Natalie Thomas has quickly become one of the best in the state.
Thomas traveled to Jefferson City last weekend for the Class 1 State Championships and left with a third place finish after tossing the javelin 116’02”. On Thomas’ fourth throw, she set a new personal record and school record.
“I am extremely proud of Natalie!,” said Community R-VI head coach Stacie Carroz. “This is her first year competing in track and field. She tried a new event, javelin. Throughout our meets this year, she has had a PR and SR in every meet in the javelin. Natalie has put in the time and effort to get better in each practice and meet and it showed at state on Saturday…Really looking forward watching her compete the next two years of her high school career.”
Thomas’ six points helped her represent a Lady Trojans’ team score that put Community R-VI in 35th place overall.
