Community R-VI, Van-Far players earn basketball honors

sptsR-VI and Van-Far players named to all-conference team

Several players from either the Van-Far or Community R-VI School Districts earned EMO All-Conference honors at the conclusion of this past season.
On the boys side, Community R-VI seniors Connor Brooks, Clay Thebeau, and Lane Thebeau each earned first-team honors. Brooks was an unanimous selection.
Van-Far’s Nick Barnes also earned first-team honors.
Other first-team honors went to Bowling Green’s Cory Buchanan and Adam Holt; Elsberry’s Rodney Chatman; Wright City’s Ty Davis; Clopton’s Luke Adams; and Montgomery County’s Chase Parrish.
Community R-VI’s Kyle Curtis earned second-team honors.
The remaining second-team players were Bowling Green’s Tyess Chatman and Andrew Martinson; Clopton’s Alex Black; Elsberry’s Terrez Blair; Montgomery County’s Kyle Kroll; North Callaway’s Brandon Hagedorn; Silex’s Levi Miller; Wellsville’s Jacob Ussery; and Wright City’s Bret Noble.

Girls Honors
On the girls side of the ball, all-state player Samm Jett was an unanimous selection to the first-team. Her teammate Danielle Brooks also earned first-team honors.
The other first-team players include Elaine Brinker and Kyla Bertschinger from North Callaway; Leah Miller and Ashley Brown, of Silex; Elsberry’s Tanner Bencomo; Clopton’s Lauren Lagemann and Ashtyn Lagemann; and Mark Twain’s McKenzie Lathrom.
Community R-VI’s Alissa Curtis and Van-Far’s Abilene Gatson each earned second-team honors
The remaining second-team players are Mark Twain’s Kaelee Ogle; Elsberry’s Kate Boedeker; Montgomery County’s Allie Schlueter; Clopton’s Sabrina Stewart and Emily Brune; Wellsville’s Jordan Kellogg; North Callaway’s Erinn Bush; and Bowling Green’s Jaylen Early.

R-VI players get district honors

Several Community R-VI boys and girls basketball players were named to the Class 1, District 11 All-District Team. Community R-VI seniors Conner Brooks, Clay Thebeau, and Lane Thebeau each received the honors for the boys.
The remaining boys earning honors includes LaPlata’s Seth Brown; North Shelby’s Josh Linberger and Dylan Mettes; Atlanta’s Garrett West; Marion County’s Brandon Atteberry; Bevier’s Colby Peukert; and Wellsville’s Jacob Ussery.
Samm Jett and Danielle Brooks were each named to the all-district girls team. The remaining girls earning honors includes LaPlata’s Kalie Lene and Ally Gregory; Wellsville’s Casey Johnson; Atlanta’s Sheyenne Klamert; North Shelby’s Kaylee Smith; Bevier’s Caiti Bradley; and Brashear’s Mandy Taylor.

Barnes named to all-district team

There was just one player from Van-Far who was named to the Class 2, District 5 All-District team. Nick Barnes was named to the boys team.
The other district honors went to Canton’s Gabe McKenzie, Cameron Durst, and Elijah Oblinger; Sturgeon’s Brayden Kelly and Lorenzo Chisholm; Louisiana’s Kendon Chatman; Cairo’s Clabe Reed; and Monroe City’s Terron Ritter and Michael Speaks.
No Van-Far girls received honors though Abilene Gatson, Breanna Strange, and Jayda Borgmeyer each received votes. Those girls basketball players earning all-district honors includes Cairo’s Marley Winkler; Canton’s Brittany Berhorst and Allison Phillips; Monroe City’s Asjia Troy and Emilie Okenfuss; Paris’ Drew Lockhart and Betsy Embree; Louisiana’s Denise Blackwell; Sturgeon’s Lauren Mills; and South Shelby’s Caitlyn Poore.
