The Community R-VI cheerleading squad knew they had an uphill climb as a newer squad in the Class 1, Small Division when they recently competed in the Northeast Regional Competition.
Fortunately, the Lady Trojans put together a nice routine to take fifth place overall to quality for the Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association State Championships.
Putnam County won the regional title while nearby Van-Far placed fourth.
The Lady Trojans did beat nearby Wellsville-Middltown, who took sixth for an at-large bid.
“With only six girls on the team and it being our first time competing, we definitely feel like we’re the underdogs, but we’re really proud of how we did at Regionals and look forward to doing even better at State,” said Community R-VI coach Jessica Young.
The Lady Trojans will make a run at a Class 1, Small Division state title on Sunday, November 6 at the Hearnes Center.
Community R-VI’s routine is scheduled for 1:14 p.m. Awards will be handed out starting at 2:45 p.m.
