A surprise resignation in the Community R-VI School District has forced the School Board to move quickly in filling an administrative position by the start of the 2014-2015 school year.
Community R-VI Elementary Principal Natalie Gibson has resigned her position.
The board voted to accept it during a Special Session Executive Meeting on Wednesday, July 7.
Community R-VI Superintendent Cheryl Mack said the position is posted and some applications received in the past have already been interviewed.
Some teachers have already been met with to review some of the process.
“This process will be very speedy,” Superintendent Mack said.
“We feel like we’ve got a good pool (of applicants). (The search) won’t be as extensive as it was the first time around.”
There is a possibility that Superintendent Mack and the school board could offer a contract to an applicant for the principal positon in time for possible ratification when the board holds its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16.
Also during the Special Session, the board voted to hire Michelle Ebers as an elementary teacher.
