Community R-VI names STRIVE Students of the Month

Each month, STRIVE sponsors a boy and girl high school student as Community R-VI Students of the Month. When choosing this honor, teachers and staff members consider effort in academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, adherence to school rules, and demonstration of school spirit and pride.
The October Students of the Month are Cordell Hollensteiner, Courtney Bertels, and Jewel Kessler.
Cordell Hollensteiner, a freshman, is the son of Joanna Schwartze and Brian Hollensteiner, of Martinsburg.  He is active in basketball, baseball, and student council. Cordell enjoys playing basketball and baseball outside of school.
Courtney Bertels, a junior, is the daughter of David and Paula Bertels, of Martinsburg. She is active as President of FFA, Vice-President of FBLA, Varsity Softball, Secretary of FTA, FCA, St Joseph Youth Group, TREND, Trapshooting, and working at the bank. Courtney enjoys spending time with friends and family, shopping, playing with her dogs Bud and Tinker, reading in her hammock, traveling, and scuba diving.
Jewel Kessler, a freshman, is the daughter of Tammy and Pat Daughtery and Jim and Becky Kessler of Martinsburg.  She is active in FFA, FBLA, and Art Club.  Jewel enjoys art, horseback riding, reading, and crocheting.
