The Community R-VI School District honored area veterans during a Veterans Day Celebration held Thursday, November 9.
The event began with the presentation of colors by the Missouri Military Academy, under the direction of Captain Joseph Balvanz.
Bethany Schmidt and Natalie Gibson then sang the “National Anthem” with a large crowd in attendance inside the high school gym.
Maddee Gastler led the “Pledgge of Allegiance” followed by a welcome from Sirrina Dunn.
The Community R-VI High School Choir then performed “O, America!” The Middle School Choir then performed “Rally Round America.”
Veterans were then recognized as led by Taren Clark and Schmidt. Information was read about each veteran and the group was applauded for their service.
The Kindergarden-5th Grade Choir followed with “In Service of Our Country.”
Josh Thomas then sang a solo for “God Bless the USA.”
The “Armed Forces on Parade” was performed by the High School and Middle School band.
Audrain County R-VI FFA Greenhand Officers told those in attendance about the Trunk or Treat efforts that raised $350.
This money will be donated to the Central Missouri Honor Flight Program. Schmidt sang “God Bless America” before Dunn gave the closing.
