The Community R-VI golf team struggled at the EMO Conference match held last week on Eagles Ridge Golf Course in Clarksville, Missouri.
Treyton Kobush posted the team’s best score as he shot a 103 to take 21st place. The top 15 golfers earned all-conference honors. North Callaway’s Justin Menard won the title with a 79. Kobush’s 103 was six strokes back from earning all-conference honors.
Trevor Hoyt finished in 27th place with a 108, Alex Becker shot a 118, and Bryan Allen had a 127. The team finished last in the conference standing with a 456.
“I think we were a little disappointed with our performance at conference,” said Community R-VI head golf coach Vicki Briggs. “We shot about our average on the front nine, but a little higher on the back nine. Trever Hoyt did break 50 by shooting 49 on the front. That is a personal best nine hole score for him.”
Before the Conference match, the Trojans had a strong performance against Silex and Montgomery City in spite of a rain saturated course and 30 m.p.h. wind conditions. Becker shot a personal best 49 to tie for the runner-up medalist spot.
Kobush shot a 51 and both Allen and Hoyt added a 58. The Trojans shot a 216 as a team.
“We were definitely more competitive in this match than we have been all season,” Briggs said.
