The return of Shelby Curtis last Tuesday night gave the Community R-VI Lady Trojans an additional spring in their step last week as they cruised past Wellsville 50-22. The win moved their record to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the EMO Conference, helping them to enter the Christmas Break undefeated. Shelby Curtis scored 12 points and added five steals in her return to the court.
“(She was) looking strong back this season after knee surgery a year ago,” said Community R-VI head coach Bob Curtis about Shelby Curtis.
The Lady Trojans struggled early against Wellsville and led just 9-6 at the end of the first quarter before out scoring the Lady Tigers 35-7 over the next two quarters on their way to a 28-point victory.
Brittni Brandwein led the Lady Trojans by scoring 16 of her game-high 24 points during the second and third quarters. She had four 3-pointers. Alisha Arens added six points and 10 rebounds.
