With just a six person cheerleading squad competing in a loaded 18-team Class 1 Small Division State Championships this past Sunday, the Community R-VI Lady Trojans beat a handful of teams though they didn’t finish in the Top-10.
Their routine featured some extended, one-legged stunts along with a difficult pyramid using just six cheerleaders.
The Lady Trojans’ score was better than the one they received at Regionals this past Summer.
“I’m very proud of all the hard work and dedication the cheerleaders demonstrated throughout the last few months,” said Community R-VI coach Jessica Young. “…For this being our first time at state, we’re definitely proud of all our accomplishments and we look forward to next year’s season. We plan on returning bigger and better than ever.”
The 2016 top five placewinners were 1) Putnam County, 2) East Carter, 3) Spokane, 4) Fayette, and 5) Marceline.
