Members of the Class of 1958 had a wonderful 58th reunion celebration of Friday, September 23 at the Junction Restaurant in Perry at 11:30 a.m. luncheon while listening to the favorite ‘50s songs.
The class gathering started with a warm welcome by Ann Kohl followed by a memorial poem given by Dianne Ennis Six. The 12 deceased classmates were Tom Garnett, Leroy Patterson, Ron Ohnemus, Arnold Gatson, Edwin Jones, Charles Potter, Margaret Carr Willoughly, Linda Roark Heisten, Joan Hawkins Driver, Bob Scott, Virginia Goran Luetji, and Darrel Aderton.
Prayer before lunch being served was given by Mary Helen Johnson Hubert. Letters and emails from Dr. Larry Griffith, Phoenix, Ariz.; Janet Franke Hubbard, Canyon Lake, Texas; Sandy Smith Gromaki, Salado, Texas; Leslie Bell, Morris, Ill.; and Mary Ann Kirtlink Davison, Springfield, Ill. were read by Marilyn Breneman and Jean Barnes.
The true highlight of the day was shared by all with updates of their personal lives and reminiscing special earlier grade and high school memories. Most classmates are retired and deemed this one of the best reunions ever. Special thanks also went to the entire committee who worked diligently to have a memorable reunion. It was decided that there would be the 59th Class Reunion, September 22, 2017.
A donation was made in honor of the Class of 1958 to the Vandalia Library Building Project and the Vandalia Area Historical Museum.
