The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded a $100,000 low-interest loan to the Audrain County town of Martinsburg to upgrade the city’s wastewater treatment system.
The city will use the funds to construct a new lagoon storage pond, convert the existing lagoon treatment facility into a no-discharge land application system and replace approximately 1,350 linear feet of sewer main. The loan funds come from State Water Pollution bond proceeds. The Funds will be used in conjunction with grant and loan funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Program.
The project is estimated to cost $2 million and is expected to be completed in May 2012. The Department of Natural Resources’ Water Protection Program will administer the loan funds. The department is committed to working closely with communities to assist with funding efforts that support water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects as well as provide a financial savings.
