Church updates for Easter and more

The following churches sent updates to their weekly schedules:
• The Vandalia First Presbyterian Church’s Bell Choir will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12. The Maundy Thursday Service will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13.
At noon, on Friday, April 14, they will join in the Good Friday Luncheon at the Vandalia First Christian Church. First Baptist Church/Beacon of Hope Church will host the luncheon on this Good Friday.
The theme for this year’s series of noon luncheons is “Meaningful Moments from the Passion Week.” The meal will begin at noon and a devotion will follow at 1 p.m.
On Sunday, April 16, there will be a Breakfast at 8 a.m. and Easter Sunday Worship will begin at 9:30 a.m. The ushers for the day will be Becky Deppe and Shelly McAfee and the greeters will be Denise Laird and Ann Carter.
• The Vandalia United Methodist Church will be joining in the  Maundy Thursday Service at the First Presbyterian Church on Thursday, April 13 at 7 p.m.
On Good Friday, April 14, they will join in the Lenten Luncheon at the First Christian Church at noon. On Sunday, April 16 at 8:15 a.m., they will have an Easter Morning Carry-in Breakfast in the Fellowship Hall and an Easter Morning Worship Service at 10 a.m.
On Tuesday, April 18, the TOPS meeting will take place at 5 p.m. and the Cub Scout Meeting will follow at 6:45 p.m.
On Wednesday, April 19, the Ministry Team Meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
• The Vandalia First Christian Church will have a free breakfast at 8 a.m. and Sunday School will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Easter Sunday. The Worship Service will begin at 10:15 a.m. and will include a live drama presentation and special music.
• A Community Sunrise Service will be held at 6 a.m. at the St. John Catholic Church, in Laddonia, on Easter Sunday, April 16. The message will be given by Dr. Dale Roberts, from the Christian Church in Laddonia. A breakfast brunch will follow.
• The Laddonia Presbyterian Church will hold Easter Service at 8:30 a.m., instead of 9 a.m., with the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper as part of the service.
• A Community Good Friday Service will be held at the Farber Christian Church on April 14 at 7 p.m. Presbyterian Pastor Dana Slavans will bring the message and each church will present special music. Everyone is welcome!
• Farber Baptist Church, on Easter Sunday, April 16, will hold a Sunrise Service at Vandalia Lake at 7 a.m. In case of rain, the service will be held at the church. A carry-in breakfast follows at the church.
Sunday School will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tom Prior is the Sunday School Director. Morning Worship will begin at 10:30 a.m.
There will be no evening service on Easter Sunday.

• Holy Week services at New Harmony Christian Church will be as follows:
Maunday Thursday service will begin at 6:30 p.m. This will be a Tenebrae Service and is a celebration of “The Upper Room.”
A Good Friday Service will begin at 6:30 p.m., entitled “Darkening of the Sanctuary.”
Easter Sunday services will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a Sunrise Service held outside (weather permitting), followed by breakfast being served.
The regular service will follow at 9 a.m. and will include a baptismal service.
