• The First Christian Church of Vandalia is hosting a Memorial Day Service at the Vandalia Area Fairgrounds from 6-6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 27.
After the service, a meal will be provided featuring pulled pork and appropriate side dishes.
The event will include a presentation by the VFW Color Guard, the singing of the National Anthem, a moment of silence to remember those who sacrificed their lives for our country, a moment of recognition for those who have served in the armed services, and a message from God’s Word pertaining to the occasion.
The event is free and all are welcome.
• Middletown Christian Church will be hosting their second “Sunday Nite Alive” on May 27 at 6:30 p.m. with Ben Merold as the guest speaker. Merold is the Minister-at-Large for Harvester Christian Church in St. Charles, Mo. and is a well-known evangelist among the New Testament Christian Churches.
He and his wife Pat began their ministry with Harvester Church in 1991. The church had a rapid growth after Ben arrived, going from an average attendance of 185 to the current attendance of around 3,000.
Ben Merold has spoken for numerous revivals, men’s retreats, state conventions, along with leadership and church growth seminars.
His video series entitled, “Principles of Church Growth” has been very popular in the United States and Australia.

• The First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia will have Bell Choir at 4:30 p.m. and Chancel Choir at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9.
On Sunday, May 13, Sunday School is at 9 a.m. and Worship begins at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Joel Montgomery.
Ushers will be Maddie McAfee and Jean Trower. Greeters will be Jim and Doris Lierheimer.
On Monday, May 14, a Session Meeting will be held at 7 p.m.
• The Vandalia United Methodist Church will be hosting the Van-Far Senior Banquet and Baccalaureate at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9.
On Thursday, May 10, the Sewing Group will meet at 1 p.m.
A Mother-Daughter Friend Salad Supper is set for 6 p.m. Friday, May 11.
On Sunday, May 13, Sunday School starts at 8:45 a.m. followed by 10 a.m. Worship Service.
The Van-Far High School Graduation is at 2 p.m.
On Monday, May 14, the Boy Scouts meet at 6:45 p.m.
The TOPS meeting is set for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15.
Next Wednesday, May 16, there will be a 6 p.m. Ministry Team meeting.
