Church Updates

The following churches sent updates to their schedules for the week.

• Vandalia First Presbyterian Church will again join with area congregations for the Lenten Lunch at noon on Wednesday, April 5. Then at 4:30 p.m., the Bell Choir will meet and at 5:15 p.m., the Chancel Choir will meet.

On Sunday, April 9, Sunday School will begin at 9 a.m. and be followed at 10 a.m. by the Palm Sunday Choral Service. The ushers for the day will be Betsy Finley and Justin Hopke. The greeters will be Jim and Terri Jungers.

On Monday, April 10, Session will take place at 7 p.m.

At 7 p.m., on Thursday, April 13, a Maundy Thursday Service will be held at FPC.

• Vandalia United Methodist Church will join in the Lenten Luncheon at noon on Wednesday, April 5 at the First Christian Church.

On Thursday, April 6, the Sewing Group will meet at 1 p.m.

On Sunday, April 9, Sunday School will begin at 8:45 a.m. and the Worship Service will follow at 10 a.m. You are welcome. Come as you are.

On Monday, April 10, the Monday Study Club will meet at 2 p.m.

On Tuesday, April 11, the TOPS meeting will begin at 5 p.m. and the Cub Scout Meeting will begin at 6:45 p.m.

• The Lenten Lunch will take place at Vandalia First Christian Church on Wednesday, April 5 at noon.

This week, Spencer Creek Baptist Church will sponsor the Lenten Lunch at the First Christian Church. Lunch will be served at noon and be followed by a Devotion at 1 p.m. The theme for the  year is “Meaningful Moments from the Passion Week.”

• “Praise to the Lamb!,” an Easter candlelight musical arranged by Sterling Holbrook and directed by Karen Holbrook, will be presented on Sunday, April 9 at 7 p.m. at the Farber Baptist Church by the Adult Choir.

Choir members are Karen and Sterling Holbrook, Jerry and Jackie Ostrom, Linda and Tom Prior, and Tom Wright.

The narrators are Jerry Ostrom and Tom and Linda Prior.

The devotion will be given by the Reverend Jerry Ostrom, pastor of the church. The offering will be donated to the St. John’s Food Pantry. The public is invited to attend.

• New Harmony Christian Church will host an Easter Egg Hunt at the church on April 8 at 2 p.m. for children of all ages.
