The following churches sent updates to their weekly schedules:
• The Vandalia First Presbyterian Church congregation will join in the noon Lenten Lunch at First Christian Church on Wednesday, March 8.
Then, the Bell Choir will meet at 4:30 p.m.
Sunday School on March 12 will begin at 9 a.m. and be followed by the Worship Service led by the Reverend Joel Montgomery. The ushers for the day will be Maddie McAfee and Justin Hopke. The greeters for the day will be P.A. and Judy Hull.
On Monday, March 13 the Session meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday, March 15 from 2-4 p.m., KidzConnect will meet due to an “Early out” at Van-Far Elementary School.
• At noon, on March 8, the Vandalia United Methodist Church will join in the First Christian Church at the Lenten Lunch.
On Thursday, March 9 at 1 p.m., the Sewing Group will meet.
On Sunday, March 12, Sunday School will begin at 8:45 a.m., Coffee and Donuts will be served at 9:30 a.m., and the Worship Service will begin at 10 a.m.
On Monday, March 13, the Monday Study Club will begin at 2 p.m.
On Tuesday, March 14, the TOPS Meeting will take place at 5 p.m. and the Cub Scout Meeting will follow at 6:45 p.m.
On Wednesday, March 15, the congregation will again attend the Lenten Lunch at the First Christian Church. That evening at 6 p.m., the Ministry Team Meeting will take place.
• The Youth Group at New Harmony Christian Church will be hosting a spaghetti supper on Saturday, March 11. The meal will consist of baked spaghetti, salad, green beans, bread, and dessert and will be served from 5–7 p.m. at the church.
Donations will be accepted for service projects, including Operation Christmas Child, love gifts to various families in the community, and maintenance projects at the church.
A Lenten Bible Study is being held on Thursday evenings at 6:30 a.m. The study is entitled, “A Place at the Table: 40 Days of Solidarity with the Poor,” and all are invited to attend. There is also a Lenten Study for children as well as a study as part of the Youth Group.
The Youth will meet on Sunday, March 12, and Sunday, March 26, after Sunday School.
Another Lenten project for all ages are posters portraying the “Stations of the Cross” that are available for coloring during the 40 days of Lent. Reflections on the posters will be shared each Sunday during worship.
• At Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, Ray Hall will be delivering the message at the Worship Service on March 12 at 10:30 a.m.
On March 18, they will have a “Loafers’ Day” with soup and sandwiches. More information on that will be the March 15 newspaper.
The Reverend Rim Massey will bring the messages for the Worship Services at 10:30 a.m. on March 19 and 26.
Brenda Waters will bring the message on April 2.
On Easter Sunday, April 16, a Sunrise Service will be held at 7 a.m. at which Ray Hall will be bringing the message. Following that service, a breakfast will be served.
The Reverend Rim Massey will preach at the rest of the Worship Services in April.
