• At Farber Baptist Church on Sunday, November 20, Sunday School will meet at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. Choir practice will be that evening at 6:15 p.m. and at 7 p.m. will be the Thanksgiving Community Worship Service at the Presbyterian Church. Brother Jerry Ostrom will be speaking and each church will provide special music.
On Monday, November 21 at 7 p.m. the Baptist Men will meet as will the WOM (Women on Missions). Carrie Hurd and Sterling Holbrook will be leading the programs. Bring a snack to share.
• On Wednesday, November 16, the First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia’s Bell Choir will meet at 4:30 p.m. and the Adult Choir will meet at 5:15 p.m.
On Thursday, November 17, the Ruth Circle will meet at 7 p.m. at Tri-County Care Center.
On Sunday, November 20, Sunday School will take place at 9 a.m. followed by the Worship Service led by the Reverend Joel Montgomery at 10 a.m.
The ushers on Sunday will be Deana Bybee and Justin Hopke. The greeters will be Jane and Norman Heim.
At 6 p.m. Sunday evening, FPC will host the VAMA Community Thanksgiving Service.
• The Vandalia United Methodist Church’s Sewing Group will meet at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 17.
On Sunday, November 20, Sunday School Classes will meet at 8:45 a.m. followed by the “Blue Jean Sunday” Worship Service at 10 a.m., after which at 11 a.m. they will have the “Hanging of the Greens.”
At 6 p.m. the Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church.
On Tuesday, November 22 at 5 p.m., the TOPS meeting will be held followed by the Cub Scout meeting at 6:45 p.m.
The church office will be closed on November 24-25.
• At Friendship Baptist Church, on Sunday, November 13, there were 51 in Sunday School and the morning worship attendance was down.
Pastor Glenn Forman delivered a message entitled “Is It Important to Express Thankfulness,” with a text of 1 Chronicles 16:4. Mrs. Sheri Beasley presented a solo prior to the morning message
The Sunday evening attendance was about the same as previous weeks. At the beginning of the service, Josiah Schott presented a piano solo. Following congregational singing, a video from a speaker at the Missouri Baptist Pastors’ Conference was shown.
RAs and GAs met at 6 p.m. There were five children in attendance for mission education, which was led by Mrs. Valory Wright. Join us this week for Sunday School beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by Morning Worship beginning at 10:45 a.m. During the morning service, a “Noisy Offering” will be collected from the crowd by our young children. The noisy offering will be designated for support of The “Lottie Moon Christmas Offering” for foreign missions. The morning message will be delivered by Pastor Forman. The congregation will be led in singing hymns by Mrs. Elwood (Beverly) LaRue. Sunday morning special music will be presented by Mrs. Virginia Rivers.
On Sunday evening, November 20 at 6 p.m., Beverly will lead the congregation in singing hymns. The special music will be provided by our evening speaker, Bishop Titus Khamala.
Titus is a Kenyan national and he will bring us an update on the ministry of Cornerstone Missions of Kenya.
RAs and GAs will meet at 6 p.m. The children’s mission education is led by Mrs. Valory Wright.
Upcoming November events
November 21 at 6 p.m.- Friendship Circle (Senior Adult Carry-in meal).
November 27- Friendship Baptist will provide the fried chicken main course for the monthly birthday-anniversary recognition noon meal.
