Church Updates

The following churches sent updates of their weekly scheduled activities:
• Vandalia United Methodist Church will meet on Wednesday, October 12 a 7 p.m. for the Ministry Team Meeting.
On Thursday, October 13 at 1 p.m., the Sewing Group will meet.
On Saturday, October 15 at 5:30 p.m., the Supper Club will meet.
On Sunday, October 16 at 8:45 a.m., Sunday School will take place followed by the Worship Service at 10 a.m.
On Tuesday, October 18 at 5 p.m., the TOPS meeting will take place and following that meeting,   the Cub Scouts will meet at 6:45 p.m.
• The First Presbyterian Church Bell Choir will meet on Wednesday, October 12 at 4:30. The Adult Choir will meet at 5:15 p.m.
On Sunday, October 16 at 9 a.m., the New Member Class as well as Sunday School will meet at 9 a.m.
The Reverend Joel Montgomery will lead the Worship Service at 10 a.m. The ushers for the day will be Alan Adam and Dalton Buie. The greeters will be Mike and Sharon Lewton.
• Farber Baptist Church will meet on Wednesday, October 12 at 7 p.m. for Discipleship Training and Prayer.
On Sunday, October 16 at 9:30 a.m., Sunday School will meet with Carolyn Constable leading. After Sunday School, the Worship Service will take place at 10:30 a.m. At 6 p.m., the  Evening Worship Service will take place with a continuation of the video series, “The Origins of the Bible.” The Pastor at Farber Baptist Church is the Reverend Jerry Ostrom.
• At Friendship Baptist Church, on Sunday, October 10, 42 were counted in Sunday School, and 64 were in attendance for morning worship. The congregation was led in the singing of hymns by Mrs. Kristy Schott. The Reverend Ken Martin presented the message. Pastor Glenn Forman, his wife Freeda, and Kristy presented a trio rendition of “His Life for Mine,” just prior to the morning message. It was a great service!
On Sunday evening at 6 p.m., there were 28 in attendance as Pastor Forman delivered a message entitled “After the Revival, What?” referencing II Peter 1:1-10. Before the message, Kristy led the congregation in hymns. An impromptu ensemble presented a special number from the hymnbook prior to the evening message. RA’s and GA’s met under the direction of Mrs. Valory Wright at 6 p.m.
We ask you to make plans and join us this week for Bible Study. Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. Morning Worship begins at 10:45 a.m. During the morning service, a “Noisy Offering” will be collected from the crowd by our young children. This offering is designated for support of Cornerstone Ministries (Titus Khamala, Kenya, East Africa). The evening message will be delivered by Pastor Forman. The congregation will be led in singing hymns by Mrs. Schott. Sunday morning special music will be presented by our ladies’ trio consisting of Mrs. Nancy Wyss, Mrs. Martha Vanskike, and Mrs. Janet Carson prior to the morning message.
On Sunday October 16 at 6 p.m., the church will meet for a wiener roast and a showing of the movie, “Woodlawn.” The movie will be shown in a machine shed belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Craig Bastian, east of Mexico off Route D (bring lawn chairs and wear clothes that are easily laundered.)
Upcoming October events include:
October 17 at 6 p.m.- “Friendship Circle” (a monthly senior adult carry-in meal). All seniors are invited!
October 28 7 p.m., “The Lester’s” Live in concert
October 31 at 5 p.m., Fall Festival (a safe, Christian family alternative to trick or treat–including games, prizes, and candy).
