Charles “David” Branstetter, age 88, of Bowling Green, formally of rural Laddonia, passed away at 11:50 a.m. on Thursday, April 24 at the Country View Nursing Facility in Bowling Green.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia.
Funeral services were held on April 27 at 2 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel.
Officiating was the Rev. Bob Hoehn.
Music featured selected favorite songs. Interment was in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wendell Branstetter, Rick Branstetter, Lee Branstetter, Ron Branstetter, Steve Branstetter, and Ben McLean.
Charles David Branstetter was born on April 4, 1926 in Frankford, Mo., the son of William Henry and Bernice (Jenkins) Branstetter. On July 10, 1968 in Maryville, Ill., he married Georgia Nell Hodges. She preceded him in death on December 5, 1981.
David grew up and attended schools in the New Harmony and Estes area of Pike County, Mo. He bought a farm near Laddonia in the early 1960’s where he and Georgia Nell made their home. David also worked for many years at the North American Refractories in Farber before retiring. He was a Christian by faith and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include three brothers, Randall L. Branstetter, of Fairview Heights, Ill.; Jim and wife Carol Branstetter, of Ironton, Mo.; Jack Branstetter, of Bowling Green. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Georgia Nell; three brothers, Brooks Branstetter, Richard Branstetter, and Bobby Gene Branstetter; three sisters, Julia Eccles, Maureen Reed, and Sue Knox.
