Chapter CE P.E.O. met Tuesday evening, September 17 at the Methodist Church.
Fifteen members played “Name That 1970’s Tune” led by Ruth Calcaterra. Members heard 30 seconds of ‘70s music and had a list of artists to match the title tune. Ruth Nation correctly answered the most.
During the business portion of the meeting, Jean Trower reported on Cottey College, the P.E.O. liberal arts college located at Nevada, Mo., owned by the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Chapter members were reminded of the rummage sale to held at St. John Lutheran Church in conjunction with Vandalia’s All-Town Garage Sale on Saturday, October 5 from 7:30 a.m.-12:00 noon. Items marked for the sale should be brought to St. John Lutheran Church on Friday October 4 between 4–6 p.m. Workers are reminded to check the shifts they need to be present for.
Hostesses for the evening and serving delicious refreshments were Carol Kohl, Sheila Ennis, and Jean McConnell with assistance from Janie Zimmer.
On Tuesday, October 15 members will travel to Bowling Green to the Methodist Church for a combined meeting with Chapter DA to hear the International Convention Report given by Ruth Calcaterra. International P. E. O. Convention is in Dallas, Texas and will be held September 26-29.
The evening’s program will begin at 6 p.m. with Chapter DA as hostesses for a salad supper. Chapter CE members are to leave at 5:30 p.m. from the parking lot across from The Vandalia Leader office to carpool to the meeting.
On Saturday, August 17 Chapter CE met at Tri-County Park for a family carry-in picnic supper. Seventeen members, fifteen spouses, and two children were present. Hostesses Grace Wortman, Beth Motley, and Debbie Barnes, with the help of their spouses, grilled pork burgers, and hot dogs.
