Catherine Marie Dymphna Sick, 14, of Bowling Green, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
A Mass was held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church with Fr. Timothy Sick, Fr. Patrick Crane and Fr. Christopher Pieroni officiating.
Burial was held at St. Clement Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green, with Rosary held at 7:30 p.m.
Catherine was born December 7, 2000, in St. Louis, and she is survived by her parents, Brian Joseph and Jennifer Lynn (Johnson) Sick.
Other survivors include: siblings, Joseph, Michael, Anna Maria, Elizabeth, Theresa, Andrew, Mary Bridget, Juliana and Patrick Sick; maternal grandmother, Patricia Johnson, of Bowling Green; paternal grandparents, Ed and Mary Anna Sick, of St. Clement; God-parents Matthew Sick and Kristina Hoffman; confirmation sponsor Erin Sick; donor Joy Arends who allowed Catherine’s family to have Catherine for 14 years, by donating a portion of her liver when Catherine was six months; many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Paul Johnson; uncles, Patrick and Jeffrey Sick.
Catherine grew up and lived in the Frankford and Bowling Green area her entire life. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Chapel and attended Gloria Dei Academy.
Catherine enjoyed having sleepovers and going to dances. Among her friends, her laughter was the most contagious. She suffered much in her last few years of her life. She bore it cheerfully with the spirit of Christian virtue, always offering it up for others’ sake.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Sick, William Watner, Patrick Sullivan, A.J. Scherder, Larry Scherder and Rob Scherder. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hoffman and Sam Sullivan.
Memorials may be made to Gloria Dei Academy, St. Clement Cemetery or for Masses to be offered for Catherine.
