Carlene Wescott, 78, of Bowling Green passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at the St. Lukes Hospital in Chesterfield.  Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at the First Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green with Lay Pastor Judy King, Elder Chris Gamm and Student Pastor Joe Siefkas officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.
Carlene was born on Nov. 29, 1934 to Leo L. and Viola Laverba Skaggs Gardner at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.  She attended school in Quincy and later graduated from Quincy Beauty School.  She went to work in a salon in Louisiana, where she met Keith Wescott.  They were married on Sept. 5, 1953 in Pocahontas, Ark., just three days before he left for active duty.  They lived in Washington, D.C. for two years.  After his discharge from service they moved back to Louisiana.
Carlene purchased a beauty salon in Bowling Green.  After the couple moved to Bowling Green, Carlene sold her shop and went to work for Vera and Neil Parsons doing accounting and tax work.   After eight years, Carlene and Keith purchased the business operated Wescott Tax Service until retiring in 1996.
Carlene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.  She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and three times as an Elder.  She was active in the Fellowship, Building and Grounds and Budget/Finance committees.  She was a member of the Presbyterian Women Study Group and enjoyed working on the church history book.
She is survived by her husband, Keith;  two children, Ron L. Wescott of Chesterfield and Barbara J. Fuerst of St. Louis; three granddaughters, Rachel L. Wescott, Emily R. Wescott and Kennedy M. Fuerst; one brother, Robert L. Gardner of Quincy, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
