Vandalia area residents enjoyed this year’s Card Party held last Saturday, which was hosted by the Vandalia Area Historical Society.

The Vandalia Area Historical Society (VAHS) held their 2nd Annual Fundraising Card Party last Saturday. Due to the party’s overwhelming success these past two years, it was decided to make this an annual event.
At the party, the VAHS expressed appreciation to Charlene Teague and Pat (Ray) Trower for their dedication and professional management of the local history museum.
In addition, the VAHS expressed gratification to the continued support of the Rual Morris Foundation. The event also featured appetizers, soup, sandwiches, and desserts.
In a surprise move, the VAHS announced their intent to begin working on and eventually publishing a highly unique book in which the local history will be told in a slightly different manner.  The title and the date of expected publication have not been solidified, but its best description was summed up as “Vandalia – the good, the bad and the ugly.”
The museum will be closed until approximately April 1 but appointments can be made by calling Charlene Teague at 594-3026 or Pat Trower at 594-3999. The Genealogy Library will be open to the public on Tuesdays from 9-11:30 a.m., weather permitting or by appointment. For an appointment, call Vicki Wright at 594-3657. Thank you again to everyone who supports the VAHS.
There was a gray-hooded Mizzou jacket, size XL, left at the museum that may be retrieved by calling the above numbers.
