Byron Darrell “Barney” Egbert, 88, of Center, Missouri, passed away at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.
Graveside Services and Burial were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 at Center Cemetery in Center, Missouri. Rev. Drew Sutor officiated. There will be no visitation.
The James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Egbert was born May 24, 1926, in Hannibal, Missouri to Clay Nathan and Eva May Draper Egbert. He was married to Betty Jane Shulse on May 12, 1944 in Ralls County, Missouri. She preceded him in death September 11, 1992.
Survivors include two children, Darrell Lynn Egbert (Kaye), of Hannibal, Missouri, Sarah Jane McDowell (Damon Carroll), of Center, Missouri; one brother, Terry Lee Egbert (Darlene), of Wisconsin; son in law, Neil Jackson, of Center, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Aaron Jackson (Nicole), Devin Jackson, Stephanie Fifer, Angela Petry (Justin), Corey Egbert, Phillip Egbert, and Jessie Armistead (Kevin); 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Lu Jackson; one brother, Ronald Ray Egbert; and one sister, Glorietta “Tiny” King.
Mr. Egbert was a United States Navy Veteran. He served his country during World War II.  Barney previously worked at the C.E. Refactory Brick Plant and retired as a mechanic.
He loved his Chevrolet cars. Barney and his wife previously took care of Wilkey Funeral Home in Center, Missouri. He liked to mow yards and enjoyed working outside, visiting the Center Elevator and watching television. He attended Olivet Christian Church.
