Last March, when the Vandalia Leader broke the news about the new Dollar Tree/Family Dollar combo store coming to Vandalia, Kayleigh M. Painter, investor and media relations manager for Dollar Tree Inc., told the Leader its goal was to open by the end of June.
It appears to have met that goal, as it begins to stock its shelves this week. According to a company official, the store is currently scheduled to open on Thursday, June 24.
The 10,517-square-foot store, located at 910 W. Hwy. 54, was completely gutted on the inside and refurbished by RJL Construction, and other contractors. The outside signs were finished last week.
“Dollar Tree and Family Dollar continue to grow, and we are proud to be part of the Vandalia community,” Painter told the Leader in March.
A combo store was recently opened in Elsberry and another is planned to open this year in Hermann. The grand opening of Vandalia’s combo store is being planned for the first or second week of July.
Dollar Tree opened its first combo store in late 2019. It operates 15,685 stores in the United States and Canada and currently has 92 combination stores.
The combo stores are delivering a same-store sales lift of greater than 20% on average compared to its single-brand stores, according to the company’s most recent earnings report.
RJL Construction, and other contractors, renovated the building at 910 W. Hwy. 54, which is set to open as a Family Dollar/Dollar Tree combo store on Thursday, June 24.
