Brandon Otis earned top medalist honors last Monday when the Van-Far golf team had a strong outing against Paris at the Mark Twain Country Club.
In spite of extremely windy conditions, Otis shot a 49 to beat out Paris’ top golfer by one stroke.
“I’m really happy for Brandon; that does a lot for confidence,” said Van-Far head golf coach Joe Basinger. “For it to be early in the year with 25 m.p.h. winds and to be able to control the ball and shoot a 49 was very good. His ball striking was very well.”
Basinger said if Otis had a good day putting the ball, he could have shot in the low 40s.
Trenton DeTienne shot a 63, Jayda Borgmeyer added a 69, and Nick Crow shot a 76.
Paris did not have enough golfers to earn team points.
