Both Community R-VI JH teams have success at Madison

Lady Trojans JH takes second

The Community R-VI Junior High Lady Trojans basketball team took second place in last week’s Madison Tournament.
The Lady Trojans opened the tournament with a 31-17 victory over Higbee.
Dalaney Bowers led the team with 14 points.
Taren Clark scored eight points, Sadie Hoyt added seven points, and Maddee Gastler had two points.
In the championship game against the host Lady Panthers, the Lady Trojans trailed by 17 at halftime before falling 37-15.
Hoyt led Community R-VI with eight points. Bowers scored four points, Hayley Kinder had two points, and Clark added one point.
Before winning the second place plaque, Community R-VI lost a tough game 33-28 on Tuesday to New Bloomfield.
The Lady Trojans won the second half battle 20-19 but lost the game by five points.
Bowers scored more than half of the team’s points with 16.
Hoyt had six points, Clark added four points, and Gastler had two points.

The Community R-VI Junior High Trojans basketball team won the Madison Tournament title last week after picking up big wins over Higbee and Marion County.
In the first game, the Trojans led 23-14 at halftime before holding on in the second half for a 42-32 victory.
Blaze Escamilla scored a team-high 17 points. Nathan Gastler had eight points, Klayton Bosworth scored six points, and Evan Hartsock had three points.
Cadin Escamilla, Jaryn Kuda, Jerry Dresewerd, and Grant Stafford each added two points.
In the title game, the Trojans jumped out to a 13-3 first quarter lead and pushed ahead by 24 points at halftime.
The Trojans went on to win the title with a 42-17 victory over the Mustangs.
Blaze Escamilla scored a team-high 10 points while Cadin Escamilla added nine points.
Dresewerd had seven points, both Hartsock and Bosworth had five points, while Gastler scored four points. The Trojans made just 4-of-10 shots from the free throw line.
