Bonnie SUE (DOWELL) schambach

Bonnie Sue (Dowell) Schambach, age 71, of Vandalia, passed away at 5:20 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 29, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia.
Services were held on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Waters Funeral Chapel.
Officiating was Pastor Frank Welch. Music was provided by Lorene Syler – pianist; Janice Cummins – soloist.
Interment was in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Pallbearers wer Casey Schambach, Clinton Schambach, Klayton Haddock, Paul Schambach, Dave Sanders, Bobby Johnson, and Frankie Wallace.
Bonnie Sue (Dowell) Schambach was born on September 17, 1941 in rural Ralls County, Missouri the daughter of Loyd Christopher and Josephine (Benn) Dowell.
She was married to Frederick David Schambach Jr. in Hannibal on December 13, 1958; he preceded her in death on June 3, 2009.
She was a lifelong Vandalia area resident and attended area schools. After her marriage to Fred in 1958, Bonnie started working at the Bobby Brooks Garment Factory in Vandalia for several years. She then became a full-time homemaker taking care of and raising the four children.
Bonnie then worked at the Tri-County Care Center for over 25 years as the housekeeping/laundry supervisor.
She was a longtime member of the Southside Baptist Church in Vandalia. Bonnie enjoyed camping, attending Bluegrass festivals with Fred and spending time with her children and grandchildren.For several years, Bonnie chaired a fundraising drive for MDA at the Tri-County Care Center.
Survivors include: three sons, David Wayne and wife, Lori Schambach of rural Middletown; Loyd Dean and wife, Gina Schambach of rural Vandalia; Michael Ray and, Carol Schambach of rural Vandalia; one daughter, Karen Sue and husband, Dave Sanders of Vandalia; one brother, James Christopher Dowell of rural Vandalia; one sister, Judy Ann White of Vandalia; 11 grandchildren: Kayla Myers of Mexico, Clinton Schambach of Vandalia; Kristen Lee and Casey Schambach both of Marceline; Danyelle Pool, Allie Schambach, Emma Schambach, Paul Schambach, Tyler Schambach, Klayton Haddock and Andrew Myers all of Vandalia; also survived by four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; one son-in-law, John Myers.
