ACHD begins search for new director
The Audrain County Health Department (ACHD) has begun its search for a new administrator after Sandra Hewlett resigned at an emergency board meeting on Oct. 5.
“We have launched an aggressive advertising campaign across several media outlets along with social media and state health job boards,” said ACHD Board Chair Kathleen Weaver.
Weaver says that vital services continue to be provided.
“Our residents health is our primary concern, especially with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, so there should be no question that these services will continue uninterrupted,” Weaver added.
Two current staff members, Becky Wieberg and Katie Swaim, both registered nurses,. have been appointed to oversee the day to day operations of the department.
“The day-to-day operations of the department are not rudderless at all,” Weaver said.
Weaver said the board has the fullest of confidence in the appointed interim administrators and will not rush to fill a position.
“We’re going to find the right candidate for this position,” she said.
