The Vandalia Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that “Blacktop South” will be the second group to entertain area residents during their “Music on Main Street Summer Concert Series.”
The regional touring band from Quincy, Ill. will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 23 at the South Railroad Park in downtown Vandalia.
The group is known for a music style that features the roots of country and blues along with classic and southern rock.
They focus their sets around a mix of Top-40 country musicians (Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Brantley Gilbert, etc.) and classic/southern rock artists (The Marshall Tucker Band, ZZ Top, etc.)
For blues, the group looks to the style of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, and JJ Cale.
“Blacktop South’s” five members have nearly a combined 100 years of experience on stage.
It includes vocalist Todd Rost, Steve Hufford (drums), Eric McCaughey (lead guitarist), Don Van Dyke, and Beau Becraft (guitarist/vocalist).
The Chamber’s first concert in the series was held last Thursday and featured the sounds of the “Kansas City Street Band.”
