A Sunday afternoon program to celebrate Black History during “Black History Month” was held this past weekend at the Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Vandalia.
Pastor Richard Smith, who is also a historian on black history in this area, gave an interactive and passionate presentation. He offered many details of his research.
The program opened with a congregational song followed by a prayer and scripture reading.
Sister Carolyn Smith greeted those in attendance and was the emcee for the event.
The event also featured the song “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Other items included trivia questions, litany, poems/selections, and a question and answer time.
