Graveside services for Betty Jean Johnson, 85, of Columbia, formerly of Farber, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Laddonia Cemetery with Reverend Randall Cone officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 until the time of service at Laddonia Cemetery. Arrangements are under the directon of Bienhoff Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnson passed at 11:50 a.m. on May 17, 2015 at South Hampton Place in Columbia.
She was born August 26, 1929 in Mexico, the daughter of Victor and Mary Ota Jackson Harper.
She was married to James W. Johnson on June 3, 1950 in Mexico and he preceded her in death May 7, 2004.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Carol (Timothy) Maylee, of Mexico, and Deborah Kay Johnson, of Columbia; one brother, Roy (Sally) Harper, of Mexico; two granddaughters, Rebecca Jean (Richard) Brashear and Erin Marie (Justin) Clifford, both of Mexico; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Johnson; and two brothers, Joseph Harper and Ray Harper.
Mrs. Johnson was a lifetime area resident and member of the Vandalia Presbyterian Church. She worked as an LPN at Audrain Medical Center for over 17 years and retired in 1977. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christopher Johnson Scholarship Fund, in care of the United Femm Club, Vandalia, Mo. 63382.
