Election day is fast approaching and we are expecting a heavy turnout. It is important for all voters to be prepared before going to the polls on November 8. Typically, the busiest times are 6-8 a.m., noon-1 p.m., and 4-7 p.m.
The ballot is quite lengthy, with several issues. A sample ballot was published in “The Vandalia Leader” on October 26 and will appear again on November 2. Sample ballots are also available in the County Clerk’s Office, as well as on our website at I urge everyone to look over the ballot before heading to the polls.
A reminder to anyone who has moved within the county since you last voted, state law requires that you vote at the polling location for your current address. If you have moved within Audrain County, you can update your address up to and including Election Day. However, I would urge voters who have moved to make address changes prior to going to the polls due to the expected high turnout. A signature is required to make address changes.
Missouri does not require voters to present a photo ID at their polling location, but they are required to show identification; such as their vote ID card or driver’s license.
It is necessary to change polling locations from time to time, your polling location is listed onyour voter ID card and polling locations are also on our website. New ID cards are mailed every two years; all eligible voters received new cards earlier this year.
Parking for those who vote at the Courthouse Annex (Old Pearl Motor building) “voter only” parking will be designated on both sides of the street in front of the annex and at the parking lot on the corner of Jefferson and Love Streets.
Parking for those who vote in the Community Room at the courthouse “voter only” parking will be designated on the north and west sides of the Courthouse.
My office has made every effort to assure a fair, honest, and accurate election. I ask that voters also be responsible and prepared on election day.
