Two members of the Audrain County R-VI FFA Chapter recently attended the National FFA Organization’s 2014 Washington Leadership Conference on July 8-12. Members attending included were Bryan Allen and Trever Hoyt.
The annual conference focuses on leadership development, personal growth, and community service. More than 2,200 students from throughout the U.S. who are FFA members attended one of the conference’s seven week-long sessions in June and July.
Audrain County R-VI FFA members worked with other members from across the U.S. to develop “Living to Serve Plans” to bring back to our local community and reach others throughout the state. Members plan to work with other school organizations and the community to put their plans into action and make a difference in their school and community.
In addition to working to develop “Living to Serve Plans”, members toured many sights in Washington DC, networked with members from across the country and built many unforgettable relationships. The conference provided a motivation for our members to make a difference in the lives of our students and community.
The 2014 National FFA Organization’s Washington Leadership Conference is sponsored through the National FFA Foundation by Monsanto, CSX, and Farm Credit.
The conclusion of each weekly session of the Washington Leadership Conference is a Day of Service, where students work together on a real, hands-on community-service project. Students worked together to put together back to school backpacks and teacher trunks for local schools working with the CSX program. Students were able utilize leadership skills to serve the local students and teachers.
