The Audrain County Area Public School Retirees met October 4 at the Audrain County Historical Museum.
President Janice Douglas welcomed everyone and thanked the social committee consisting of Maureen Hacker, Jane Duffner, Kathy Craghead, and Jim and Sharon Kropf.
Jim Kropf led the Pledge to the American flag and Hacker read quotes about Fall for the inspiration.
Informative Protective Chairperson Margaret Thomas urged members to beware of staged car crashes, fake shipping notices, and other scams.
Membership Chairperson Deborah Teague reminded members that October is MRTA renewal month.
Paula Isgrig will attend the state Retirement Education Committee meeting.
Community Participation Chairperson Sally Stuart asked members to bring a bag of candy to the next meeting for the Next Step Christmas party and a roll or two of wrapping paper to be used for Next Step giftwrapping and Mexico Senior Center Home bound Christmas project.
Members were reminded to keep record of volunteer hours, food items, and money donated for hunger relief.
The pig was passed for donations to MRTF for teacher grants. Members were urged to continue collecting Moser’s receipts and empty prescription bottles.
Sign-up sheets for 2018–2019 committees were passed around. The MRTA Region Four meeting will be held October 23 in Fulton.
Vice-president Diana Henage, reported on the Annual meeting. ACAPSR received the Unit of Excellence Award for the fourth year in a row.
Douglas thanked all who helped at “Walk Back In Time” on “Education Day.” Several members attended Mexico Senior Center’s Day of Celebration for former and retired employees of Mexico Public Schools.
Douglas thanked members for donated items and money for the Mexico Senior Center Homebound Christmas project. Volunteers signed up to ring bells for the Salvation Army, on Saturday, December 9, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Officers elected for 2018–2019 are President Diana Henage; Vice-President Deborah Teague; Recording Secretary Donna Quinlan; Treasurer Joan Fecht; and Corresponding Secretary Sue Ann Keith.
ACHS Director Lori Pratt thanked the group for their help.
The next meeting will be December 6 at Mexico Public Schools Central Office.
Duffner gave the blessing and members enjoyed sack lunches and dessert. After lunch, several members cleaned the Audrain Country School.
