Several area residents experienced success in this year’s Audrain County 4-H Youth Fair held July 13-17 at the Audrain 4-H Fairgrounds in Mexico.
An astounding $61,372 in total livestock/ham purchases were made as 113 livestock/ham were sold.
There were a total of 115 kids with 31 Clover kids displaying 575 items.
The list includes 34 kids showing 99 hogs, 55 kids showing 76 cattle, seven kids with 18 dogs, 38 kids with 200 sheep, 20 kids showing 73 goats, 25 kids with 90 rabbits, four kids with 23 poultry, 32 kids with 47 hams, and nine kids with nine horses.
This year’s champions in each of the contests were:
Goats-Austin McBride (Grand Champion) and Brooke Ransom (Reserve)
Hogs-Stephan Schafer (Grand Champion) and Randy Meyers (Reserve)
Rabbits-Megan Jaeger (Grand Champion) and Travis Duenke (Reserve)
Steer-Rachel Nelson (Grand Champion) and Renee Nelson (Reserve)
Poultry-Ean Meador (Grand Champion)…No reserve awarded
Lamb-Abby Hoer (Grand Champion) and Mackenzie Davis (Reserve)
Ham-Haley Barnes (Grand Champion) and Karley Newson (Reserve)
