Arlin B. (Bub) Hays, 87, of New Hartford, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Country View Nursing Facility in Bowling Green where he last resided since June 1, 2012.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 27 at the Mudd-Veach Funeral home in Bowling Green, with Domenic Enrietta and Arlene Leszewski officiating.  Burial was in the Keith Cemetery in New Hartford.
Visitation was Friday from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Arlin was born on Jan. 6, 1927 in Peoria, Ill., the son of Ollie C. and Pauline Grey Pritchett Hays. Bub lived and worked most of his life on the farm near New Hartford.
He loved splitting wood with his wood splitter, mowing his lawn with his treasured “John Deere” mower and riding his three wheeler.
He did a lot of farm work when he was younger.  Bub loved visiting with family and friends anytime.
He is survived by two brothers, Tom and Bill Hays of New Hartford, sister Ida Gastler of Wellsville, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Casper and Jessie Hudson Pritchett, Arthur Allen and Edna Ursula Moore Hays, sister Loretta Jean Schneider Lanvermeier, brother-in-law Melvin Gastler, sister-in-law Linda Hays, three nephews, and one niece.
Pallbearers were Tom Hays, Carl McCaleb, Guy Traynor, John Gastler, Roy Sisson, and Brad Lucas.
Memorials may be made to the Keith Cemetery in New Hartford or the Pike County Home Health and Hospice.
